Welcome to Joomla Wiz - Free Tips, Tutorials and more

Hello and welcome to the website! I hope to become your resource for learning just how powerful Joomla can be for your website needs. I've been working in a Joomla environment for several years now.  When I first started, I knew absolutely nothing about PHP, MySQL or CSS - and thanks to Joomla and many late nights of hair pulling and screaming, I feel I've got a decent grip on this great content management system.

Pull a content item into another site without header or columns

Posted by Administrator in howto

If you've ever wanted to frame a page of your website on another site or another area of your website for any reason, attempting it in Joomla may have given you fits as there's no obvious way  to do it without also pullng in your pretty header and columns.

There is an easy answer that can be pretty handy - notice most content item URLs have "index.php?..." - just copy the URL you want to use elsewhere, and add a numeral "2" after 'index' and you'll pull just the content and not the template layout.

So, your link would then be "index2.php?..." - try it now!  This has been useful to me when I worked with customers who had a Joomla site and a few non-Joomla sites - this hack was used to pull in lead generation forms and articles for viewing thus avoiding the 'duplicate content' worry in your SEO.
